What Makes This Kit Different

A double-cutaway body with a 4+2 headstock and a double-locking tremolo, in one kit. The tremolo locks the strings at the bridge and the locking nut clamps them at the headstock, so the guitar stays in tune through heavy whammy use once it is set up. The locking nut comes already fitted to the neck, and the body is pre-routed for the floating tremolo, its springs and both humbuckers.

The basswood body carries a quilted maple veneer on the top, ready for a clear, stained or burst finish of your choice. The bolt-on maple neck has a maple fretboard with 22 frets, black dot inlays, side dots and rounded fret ends. Two zebra humbuckers run through a single volume knob and a 3-way toggle, with chrome hardware throughout.

Marblo is a name we built from marble, the stone that wears smooth and round. The body has the same soft outline: two short rounded horns, a full lower bout and no sharp points. The quilted maple top is left bare for you to finish your way.

Soldering 101

Do I need to solder electronics? Yes.

You wire the pickups, the controls and the output jack yourself. Every connection is a wire onto a lug, all of them inside one cavity, and you can redo any of them. Soldering is a skill you pick up in an afternoon, not a trade you need to have already.

What you will be wiring

2 humbuckers, 1 volume, no tone, 3-way toggle

See the wiring diagram for this kit. That is the community thread for this exact layout, so you can ask about your build there and get an answer against a photo of your own cavity.

Just want the file? Download the diagram.

What you need

A soldering iron, rosin-core solder and wire cutters. None of it is specialist equipment and none of it is included in the kit.

Never soldered before?

Start with our guide to guitar electronics. It covers what each component does and how to make a joint that holds. If a joint fails you can heat it and redo it. Nothing in the electronics is single use.

If your kit does not match the diagram

It happens. Kits vary slightly between production runs in wire colours and occasionally in components, which can make a general diagram confusing. You are not misreading it.

Send us your order number with a close-up of the wiring harness and a wider shot of the whole control cavity, and our wiring technician will send you the correct diagram for your kit or draw one for it.

Would rather not solder at all? See the kits that arrive wired.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the double-locking tremolo do on this kit?

It clamps the strings at the bridge and at the pre-installed locking nut, so heavy whammy bar use does not pull the guitar out of tune once it is set up. Fine tuners on the bridge handle small pitch corrections after the strings are locked.

How is this kit different from your other double-locking tremolo kits?

This one pairs a bolt-on maple neck and a 4+2 headstock with a basswood body under a quilted maple veneer. For a set-in neck, see the set-neck kit with quilted maple veneer; for a mahogany body, see the mahogany kit with vinework inlays.

How hard is this guitar kit to build?

It is rated Intermediate, 6 out of 10. The parts that take care are setting up the floating tremolo and sanding the thin quilted maple veneer by hand; the bolt-on neck and pre-cut routes keep the woodwork simple. See how we score build difficulty.

What are the neck and scale length specs?

The maple neck has a 25.5 inch (648 mm) scale, a maple fretboard with 22 frets and rounded fret ends, black dot inlays and side dots. The truss rod is adjusted at the heel.

How do I pick the right kit for me?

Take our quick kit quiz. It matches you to a kit based on your style and skill level. Every kit on our site also shows a difficulty score, so you can quickly see what fits your experience. Still unsure? Contact our Builder Success Team and we'll recommend one.

Can I swap the pickups, tuners, or other hardware?

Yes. Most of our kits use standard sizing for body cavities, mounting holes, and hardware, so aftermarket pickups from brands like Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, or EMG fit right in. Same goes for tuners, bridges, and nuts. Many of our builders play the kit as-is and love it, while others enjoy swapping in their favorite parts to personalize the sound and feel. That's the beauty of building your own, you can make it exactly how you want it.

Do you sell DIY guitar kit parts separately?

No, at the moment, we don't sell guitar kit parts (bodies, necks, hardware, etc.) separately.

How long does it take to build?

Build time depends on the kit and on you, so every kit page shows a difficulty rating to help you pick one that fits your experience. The biggest variable is the finish: an oil or stain is ready in days, while lacquer or polyurethane can take from one week to three months to fully cure.

What finishing options can I use on my guitar?

You can use stain, paint, or oil-based finishes. Learn more about finishing techniques here.

Our advice: use a reference. In most cases, this will be a guitar you particularly like the look of and want to create something similar.

Safety note: rags used with an oil finish give off heat as they cure and can catch fire if left in a pile. Lay them flat to dry outdoors, or soak them in water, before you throw them away.

How long does shipping take, and do you ship internationally?

We ship to over 100 countries, and every order ships with a tracking number. Free shipping is available on U.S. orders and on many international kits: eligible free-shipping options appear at checkout for your location. Delivery time depends on which warehouse fulfills your kit, shown on the product page. In-stock kits typically arrive within the U.S. in 1 to 2 weeks, or worldwide from our international warehouse in 2 to 6 weeks. Pre-order and Custom Shop kits take longer (pre-orders about 3 to 6 months, Custom Shop about 8 months), with the timeline shown on the product page. If your order ships to a U.S. address, you pay no customs duties or import taxes, whether your kit ships from our U.S. warehouse or our international warehouse. Orders to other countries may be subject to customs duties or import taxes set by your country, which are the buyer's responsibility. See our Shipping Policy for details.
