Refund policy

Last Updated: October 2026

You can ask us for a written copy of this policy at any time.

We want you to love your build. If something's not right, here's how we make it right.

14-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

Changed your mind? No problem. If you haven't opened or started building the kit, you can return it within 14 days of receiving your order for a full refund.

Here's how it works:

  • Contact our support team within 14 days of receiving your order
  • The kit must be unopened, unused, and in its original packaging
  • You cover the cost of return shipping
  • Once we receive the kit back and confirm it's in original condition, we'll process your full refund within 3-5 business days

This guarantee is for guitar kits. It does not apply to Custom Shop orders or merch (see below).

Merch: Made to Order, Final Sale

This section is for our merch: hats, caps, shirts, polos, aprons and build mats.

We print each item after you order it. That is why all merch is final sale. We do not give refunds, store credit or exchanges if you change your mind or order the wrong size. Please check the size chart before you order.

Did your merch arrive misprinted, damaged or defective? Our 30-Day Limited Warranty covers it. See "Merch" in the warranty section below.

30-Day Limited Warranty (our 30-Day Defect Coverage)

Guitar Kit World, operated by Maker Kit World LLC, gives this limited warranty to the original purchaser of a product bought on guitarkitworld.com, in every country we ship to. If something arrived damaged, defective, or a part is missing, we've got you covered for 30 days from the date you receive your order.

Here's the process:

  • Contact us within 30 days of receiving your order
  • Include a photo or short video that shows the issue
  • Our support team will review and work with you on the best solution

Depending on the issue, we may:

  • Send a free replacement part
  • Offer a partial refund so you can source the fix locally
  • Offer a full refund for major defects that can't be resolved

Once we replace a part, the original belongs to us. Please keep it until your case is closed, because we may ask you to send it back so we can inspect it. If we do, we cover the shipping.

We stand behind what we sell. If there's a manufacturing defect, we make it right.

Merch (hats, caps, shirts, polos, aprons and build mats)

  • What we cover: a misprint, damage in shipping, or a flaw in the material or how it was made. A misprint means the wrong design, the wrong colors, or the design in the wrong place.
  • How long: 30 days, starting the day your merch arrives.
  • What we will do: send you a free replacement. If we can't, we will refund what you paid for that item, including shipping. You do not need to send it back.
  • How to claim: email support@guitarkitworld.com within 30 days of delivery. Include your order number and a clear photo of the problem. If several items have the same problem, one photo of all of them is fine.
  • Refunds go back to how you paid, within 5 business days after we approve your claim. Your bank may take a few more days.

Not covered for merch:

  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage from washing or drying that does not follow the care label.
  • The wrong size or color picked when you ordered.
  • Small color differences from what you see on your screen.

What's not covered:

  • Damage that happens during assembly - We'll still help you fix it. Just reach out to our Builder Success team and we'll walk you through a solution.
  • Defects due to humidity changes - Because our kits are made from natural, unfinished wood, we keep them unsealed so you have the most flexibility when it comes to finishing. One side effect is that if the humidity level in your area is significantly different from where the kit was stored, or if you place your kit near a heater, in a damp area, or anywhere with extreme moisture or dryness, the wood may expand or contract. This can cause cracking, warping, or loose joints. While this is rare, Guitar Kit World does not cover cracking or warping caused by humidity changes. Changes in humidity may also occasionally cause body veneers to separate. This is also not covered, but it's a relatively simple repair, and our Builder Success team will be happy to help. Sharp or protruding fret ends (fret sprout) reported within 30 days of delivery are handled under our 30-Day Defect Coverage. After that, they are treated as humidity movement and are not covered, but they are a quick fix and our Builder Success team will help. To reduce the risk of any humidity problem, follow our acclimation steps: How to Acclimate Your Kit.
  • Natural wood pattern variations - Because we work with natural wood, the grain pattern and color of your kit may vary from the photos on the product page. Every piece of wood is unique, and no two kits will look exactly the same. Some of our kits feature maple veneers on the body. Veneer is a very thin layer of wood that may have minor imperfections - these are part of the natural character of the wood, not defects. We recommend veneer kits for intermediate to advanced builders, as beginners may find them more challenging to work with.

Limits of this warranty: For purchases governed by U.S. law, any implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the 30-day period of this limited warranty. Your remedies under this warranty are the replacement part, partial refund or full refund described above. We are not liable for incidental or consequential damages, except for death or personal injury or any other liability the law does not allow us to exclude. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

Your rights under consumer law: Where the consumer laws of the EU, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand apply to your purchase, nothing above limits your rights under them, and this warranty is in addition to those rights. In the EU and UK, you are entitled by law to remedies from us, free of charge, if goods are faulty or not as described, and this warranty does not affect those remedies. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

How to make a warranty claim: Email support@guitarkitworld.com within 30 days of receiving your order, with your order number and a photo or short video of the issue. You can also reach us at Maker Kit World LLC, 1021 East Lincolnway, Cheyenne, WY 82001, United States, or +1 740-530-8646.

Cancellations

These cancellation terms are for guitar kits. Merch has its own terms below.

We send orders to our warehouse soon after you place them. If you need to cancel, contact us as soon as you can.

  • Stock orders (US and international warehouse): Your order goes to our warehouse right away. It starts moving before you get a tracking number. If you need to cancel, tell us within 24 hours. That gives us the best chance to stop it, but we can't promise. If we stop it, we refund you in full. After 24 hours, we most likely can't cancel. Your kit will still reach you. You can then return it under our 14-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. You pay the return shipping.
  • Pre-orders: Contact us to cancel. You can cancel for a full refund until your kit leaves our warehouse. We'll check and tell you if it already has. Once it has left, our standard return policy applies.
  • Custom Shop orders: You can cancel within 5 days of placing your order at no charge. After 5 days, a 150 USD cancellation fee applies because our team has already started building your custom kit.
  • Merch: We send merch to print soon after you order. You can cancel for a full refund until printing starts. To cancel, email support@guitarkitworld.com right away with your order number. We will tell you if we caught it in time. Once printing starts, we can't cancel your merch. If your merch can't ship within 10 business days, we will email you. You can then cancel for a full refund, even if printing has started.

Please note: No tracking number yet does not mean your order is waiting. Your kit may already be on its way.

Order Status: What to Expect

Here is what happens after you order an in-stock kit, and the emails you get.

  • Order confirmed. You get an order confirmation email. We send your order to our warehouse.
  • Shipped. You get a shipping email with your tracking number.
    • From our US warehouse: This email most often comes within 1 to 2 business days. Tracking starts to update a day or two later.
    • From our international warehouse: Your kit goes to our shipping partner first. So this email comes about a week after you order. Then your kit travels to your country. Your tracking may not update until it gets there. That can take 3 to 5 weeks. This is normal, and your kit is on its way.
  • In transit, out for delivery, delivered. Once the carrier in your country has your kit, we email you at each step.

If there is a delivery problem, like a missed delivery or a parcel waiting for pickup, we email you too. You can check your order any time at guitarkitworld.com/track.

Pre-orders and Custom Shop orders follow the timelines below.

Delivery times vary by order type:

  • US warehouse orders: Most arrive in 3 to 8 business days, a little longer around holidays (ships to U.S. addresses only).
  • International warehouse orders: Typically arrive within 2-6 weeks depending on your destination country.
  • Pre-orders: Estimated delivery timeline is listed on the product page. You'll be notified when it ships.
  • Custom Shop orders: Estimated delivery time is around 8 months. Once your custom kit is complete, we'll send you images of the finished build and your tracking number. Upon request, we can send you photos of the completed kit before shipping.

Customs Duties

If your order ships to a U.S. address, no customs duties or import taxes apply, because we cover the U.S. import tariff. For deliveries outside the U.S., local customs duties or taxes may apply when your order arrives. These are set by your government, not by us, and are the responsibility of the buyer.

If an order outside the U.S. is returned to us because customs duties weren't paid, we'll refund your order minus a 100 USD handling fee to cover the round-trip shipping and processing costs. The kit must arrive back in original condition.

Replacement Parts

Made a mistake during assembly or lost a small part? It happens. Contact our support team and we'll help you get a replacement so you can keep building.

How to Reach Us

For any returns, refunds, or replacement requests, contact our support team at support@guitarkitworld.com. Include your order number and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights under the consumer laws of your country, such as those in the EU, UK, Australia or New Zealand.
