Jason’s Epoxy DIY Guitar Kit Build

At Guitar Kit World, we love seeing how our builders take a standard DIY electric guitar kit and turn it into something truly one-of-a-kind. From students turning blocks of wood into guitars to experienced woodworkers, our community continues to inspire us with creative and personal builds.

This spotlight features Jason Hanson, a first-time guitar builder who combined woodworking, epoxy techniques, and one of our T-style DIY guitar kits to create a stunning custom instrument.

From Woodworking to Guitar Building

Jason usually works with epoxy river tables and crafts, but this was his very first attempt at building a guitar. With the solid foundation of our beginner friendly DIY guitar kit, he was able to focus on adding his own creativity while still learning the fundamentals of guitar assembly.

What Makes This Build Unique

Epoxy River Design – Jason poured a blue epoxy “river” into the body of the guitar, creating a striking, artistic effect that makes this guitar a true one-of-a-kind.

Engraved Symbol – A hand-carved design on the body adds extra character and reflects Jason’s craftsmanship.

Custom Headstock Shaping – Instead of keeping the stock headstock shape, Jason carved a custom profile, giving the guitar a personalized and professional look. If you’d like to try shaping your own headstock, check out our step-by-step video guide on designing a blank headstock.

DIY Guitar Kit Foundation – With all parts included (body, neck, pickguard, hardware, and electronics), Jason was able to follow the instructions step by step and focus on customization.

Jason’s Feedback

Here’s what Jason had to say about the process:

“As someone who normally makes epoxy river tables and crafts, this was my first guitar build and this kit was delivered quickly & was easy to follow the directions. Would definitely recommend others use these kits to build their own custom builds.”

The Finished Guitar

From unboxing to final setup, Jason documented each stage of his project — sanding, epoxy pour, staining, hardware installation, and final setup. The result is a beautiful, playable electric guitar that showcases how versatile and rewarding a DIY kit can be.
