Frequently Asked Questions
Can I really build this if I've never done it before?
Yes. Many of our builders are first-timers. Every kit has a difficulty rating from 1 to 10 on its product page, so you can pick one that matches your experience. All kits ship with frets installed, and no woodworking or routing is required (all cavities, holes, and channels are pre-cut). If you get stuck, email support@guitarkitworld.com and we reply within 1 to 3 business days.
What tools do I need, and what's already in the box?
Every kit includes the body, neck, fretboard with frets installed, pickups, tuners, bridge, hardware, and an allen wrench. Whether the electronics arrive pre-wired or as a solder-it-yourself harness depends on the kit, so check the product page for the wiring type.
You'll need to supply: a Phillips screwdriver, sandpaper (220 to 600 grit), wood grain filler, your stain or paint, a clear coat, a string winder, and a tuner. Add wood glue and clamps for set-neck kits. Add a soldering iron, solder, and wire strippers for DIY-wiring kits.
How long does it take to build?
Assembly is typically a weekend project for beginner kits. More advanced kits take longer. The biggest variable is the finish: an oil or stain is ready in days, while lacquer or polyurethane can take from one week to three months to fully cure.
Who is Guitar Kit World, and have other beginners actually finished these?

What if I'm not satisfied?
If your kit arrives unopened in its original packaging, you can return it within 14 days of receipt. You cover return shipping. We issue the refund within 5 business days after inspection. Custom Shop kits are not eligible for return.
If a part arrives damaged or missing, email us within 30 days with a photo or video. We'll work with you on a replacement, a partial refund, or a full refund depending on the issue.
Do you ship to my country, and can I split payments?
We ship to over 100 countries with free shipping on stock kits. Shipping time depends on which warehouse fulfills your kit: orders from the US warehouse arrive in 6 to 12 business days, and orders from our overseas warehouse take 4 to 6 weeks. The product page for each kit shows which warehouse it ships from.
Shop Pay Installments lets you split your purchase into 4 interest-free payments at checkout. The plan is provided by Affirm and is subject to eligibility and Affirm's terms.
What if I get stuck mid-build?
We publish wiring diagrams for every kit, written how-to tutorials, a YouTube channel, and a community forum at community.guitarkitworld.com. If you can't find your answer, email support@guitarkitworld.com and we reply within 1 to 3 business days.
