How to fix and re-drill holes on your guitar

Having issues installing the neck of your bolt on guitar kit? Is it misaligned and not lining up with the holes of your backplate? We have gathered good resources you could refer to if you are encountering these problems.

1. First option is to use dowels and drill the holes again in the correct position.

This method not only applies for neck alignments, but generally to any hole that you need to fix, improve the positioning, stripped out, and resize.

2. Second option is to skip using the backplate and just screw the neck directly like this guitar in the photo.

You can actually complete the bolt-on kit with some washers instead of the backplate. This will require you to drill a bigger hole the size of the washer, at about half a centimeter deep to make it look flush. Then you can bolt on the neck without the backplate.

It is also best done with threaded inserts. Like in this video below.

Another great tip on how to do it.

This method can be applied not only on the guitar neck, but anywhere on your guitar that requires some patching or to cover up holes.
